Jane Scullion is a Consultant Respiratory Nurse at the University Hospitals of Leicester, where she is the Clinical Lead for the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) service. An active contributor to the field of respiratory, Jane is also the Director of Education for the UK Inhaler Group (UKIG) and a member of the Aerosol Drug Management Improvement Team (ADMIT). Jane writes the first Letter from the Editor for Together in Respiratory, on behalf of the wider board, where she outlines her aims and ambitions for the website. Jane also reflects on the outcomes of a recent Asthma Survey.
June Roberts is Associate Director of Transformation in Salford and a Consultant Nurse. She led the Salford Respiratory Team to win the British Thoracic Society inaugural award for Integrated Respiratory Care and the Nursing Times Respiratory Team of The Year. She has published widely and is the author of both COPD at your fingertips and Managing Breathlessness in the Community. Ruth McArthur is a Practice Nurse in East Kilbride, Scotland, with a specialist interest in allergy and respiratory conditions. Ruth was previously a member of the BTS/SIGN Asthma Guidelines Steering Group and the Diagnosis Evidence Review Group and was involved in developing the QIS COPD Standards in Scotland. Ruth was also the PCRS representative on the UK Inhaler Group (UKIG). Here, Ruth reflects on the importance of good inhaler technique, and provides practical approaches to improve patients’ use of their devices.
Anne Marie Marley has been working as a Respiratory Nurse Consultant since 2004 in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. She has been on the clinical forum for the European Connected Health Project and is a representative on the Respiratory Research Network for Northern Ireland. She has published work on COPD and palliative care and is currently the Respiratory Clinical Lead for the Integrated Care Partnership for Belfast. She is an RCN NI Board member and was awarded an MBE for services to health care in 2012. For Together in Respiratory, Anne Marie has looked at the issue of recruitment in respiratory care.
